Honoring the Earth Rhythm — From Overthinking to Inner Peace
As Indian summer begins to soften into fall, nature invites us into the Earth Rhythm—a time to come back to center, slow down, receive nourishment, and reconnect with what truly supports us.
In Eden Energy Medicine, Earth is the rhythm of nourishment, grounding, and our ability to digest life—not only the food we eat, but also our thoughts, emotions, experiences, and responsibilities.
Is Your Earth Rhythm in Balance?
When Earth is balanced, we tend to feel grounded, centered, calm, supported, and able to care for others without losing ourselves.
When Earth is out of balance, we may find ourselves worrying, overthinking, feeling scattered or depleted, taking on everyone else's problems, or giving so much to others that we forget to nourish ourselves.
You, too, are worthy of the care you so freely give to others.
Earth Organs / Systems — Stomach & Spleen
The Earth Rhythm is also associated with the Stomach and Spleen energy systems and our ability to receive, transform, and assimilate nourishment.
When these energies are stressed or depleted, we may experience digestive discomfort, bloating or fullness, appetite changes, cravings, fatigue, heaviness, or low energy.
These experiences can have many causes, but from an energetic perspective they invite an interesting question:
What am I having difficulty digesting in my life right now?
Sometimes it's food. Sometimes it's a change, a relationship, too much responsibility—or simply too much coming at us at once.
Simple Ways to Balance Your Earth Rhythm
The Eden Method gives us many ways to communicate with our energies through color, sound, movement, touch, and intention.
COLOR — Yellow & Gold: Wear it, surround yourself with it, or imagine yourself bathed in warm golden-yellow light.
SOUND — “Eghhhhhhh”: Take a comfortable breath and release a long Eghhhhhhh…, allowing the vibration to move through your body.
MOVEMENT — Get Grounded: Do the Earth Rhythm Exercise, Triple Warmer/Spleen Hug, Four Thumps, activate Stomach 36, walk, sway, gently stomp your feet, or simply stand and feel the earth beneath you. When your thoughts are spinning, bring your attention out of your head and back into your body with the Hook-Up!
AFFIRMATION: “Today I choose to nourish myself. As I become more grounded, centered, and peaceful within, my body remembers its amazing natural ability to heal.”
ESSENTIAL OILS: For grounding and centering, consider Vetiver, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Frankincense, or Patchouli. For worry and an overactive mind, Lavender or Bergamot may be lovely choices. Ginger, Peppermint, Cardamom, and Fennel are traditionally associated with digestive comfort.
YOUNG LIVING BLENDS: For grounding and centering, consider Valor or Grounding. For worry and anxiety, Peace & Calming or Stress Away. For digestive comfort, DiGize.
Where the attention goes, the energy flows. Energy follows thought.
You don't need to do everything. Keep It Simple Sweetheart! Choose what feels nourishing to you. So during this Earth Rhythm, perhaps the most important question we can ask ourselves is:
What do I need to feel nourished today?
Take a Two-Minute Earth Rhythm Pause
Feeling overwhelmed, scattered, or caught in overthinking? Take just two minutes to come back into your body and support your Earth energy.
1. The Four Thumps
The Four Thumps are part of Donna Eden's Daily Energy Routine and offer a simple way to awaken your energy and help you feel more grounded and present.
Tap each area firmly for 20–30 seconds while breathing slowly:
1. Stomach Points — on the cheekbones directly beneath the eyes.
2. K-27 Points — just below the collarbones on both sides.
3. Thymus Point — directly in the center of the chest on the sternum.
4. Spleen 21 Points — on both sides of the body, just at the bottom of the rib cage by the waist.
Take a breath and notice how you feel.
2. Activate Stomach 36 (ST36)
Stomach 36 is a powerful acupressure point traditionally used to support digestion, stamina, vitality, and overall well-being.
To find it, locate the bottom of your kneecap. Measure approximately four finger widths down, then move about one finger width to the outside of the shinbone.
Apply gentle pressure or massage the point in small circles for 30–60 seconds on each leg while taking several slow, deep breaths.
Pause for a Moment...
What do you notice?
• Do you feel a little calmer?
• More grounded?
• Has your breathing slowed?
• Do you feel more present in your body?
Your body is always communicating with you. Sometimes a few simple techniques are all it takes to begin shifting your energy.
Keep It Simple Sweetheart.
